Born in Doncaster in 1972, Philip graduated from the University of Huddersfield with an Upper Second honours degree in Historical and Political Studies.
Before being elected to parliament, he had a successful career as a Senior Marketing Manager for ASDA in Leeds. In his spare time, he also served as both a parish councillor and a school governor because he saw the importance in always being ingrained in the local community.
Outside of Party politics Davies was an early “organiser” for the pressure group, the Taxpayers’ Alliance, part of the Tufton Street network of thinktanks and lobbyists.
Davies is best known for campaigns against political correctness and is an active campaigner for the men's rights movement. He played a lead role in securing the first International Men's Day debate in Parliament in 2015; the debate has since taken place annually.
Philip has been involved in the heart of British politics, since joining the Conservative Party in 1988. In 1997, making a speech on foreign affairs at the Conservative Party Conference. He found it interesting that politicians were not making the arguments he wanted to hear. Since then, it has been his firm belief that change requires action, meaning he decided first to run for parliament and was first elected in 2005 for the constituency of Shipley.
After being first elected, he has found it an honour to be re-elected in 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Philip sees his role as a backbencher as his first responsibility putting the needs of others first.
In his spare time, he enjoys horseracing and full English breakfasts.
